The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among, this evening joined the Football/sports fraternity at a vigil to mourn FUFA’s 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoya who passed on this morning.
She eulogised the late Mugoya as a devoted and independent thinker who dedicated a lot of efforts in ensuring that the Pamoja bid becomes a reality.
“Mugoya was part of the eight-man committee that oversaw the Pamoja bid and his contribution will never be forgotten; It is very sad he will not witness the fruits of his endeavour. My condolences to FUFA President Moses Magogo, family and the sports fraternity,” she said at the vigil held at the FUFA offices in Mengo.

Mugoye served as the Chairperson of FUFA Women Adhoc Football committee for all women football competitions in 2015 that oversaw the start of the FUFA Women Elite League (now FUFA Women Super League).
Voted to represent Kampala Region League clubs in the FUFA Assembly since 2017.
He was chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2019 CECAFA U20 Championship held in Gulu and at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
In 2017, Mugoye served as the Vice Chairman of the FUFA Adhoc Committee that was assigned to bring back football glory days in Northern Uganda.
Has been Chairman of the FUFA SACCO since its inception in 2021.
Was head of the FUFA Finance function-appointed during restructuring of Internal operations of FUFA Executive by FUFA President in 2022.
In 2022, he was appointed by FUFA President as Head of the FUFA Stakeholders, Strategic Relations and Innovations Committee in 2022 during restructuring of Internal operations of FUFA Executive.
In 2023, Member of the FUFA working committee for the East Africa Pamoja AFCON 2027 winning bid.
He has been a Member Board of Director at FUFA Media Services Limited.
Mugoye has also been a Member Director of Directors FUFA Sportswear Limited.
He has also been serving as a Member Director of Directors of the FUFA Hospitality and Travel Agency Limited.
