Speaker Anita Among chaired today’s CSPOC Session

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who is also the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth, is chairing today’s sessions.

Rt. Hon Leo Cato, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Grenada submitted a paper on Security Measures for Parliamentarians and Parliaments, where he said MPs are facing unprecedented physical, emotional and cyber-related security challenges.

He was followed by the Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa, Vice Chairperson of the CSPOC Standing Committee who spoke to Parliamentarians’ welfare and wellness issues.

Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, held a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Maldives, Rt. Hon Mohamed Aslam, agreed to deepen Parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries.

Speaker Among said Uganda seeks to learn from the Maldives on best practices in tourism and management of adverse effects of climate change.

Speaker Aslam invited Speaker Among to visit the Parliament of Maldives, and proposed the future signing of a comprehensive memorandum of understanding to guide cooperation between the two Parliaments.
