Members of Parliament led by the Speaker Anitah Among have this evening joined mourners at a vigil in Bugolobi to pay tribute to the late, Hon Cecilia Ogwal.
The Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has mourned the passing on of the late Dokolo district woman Mp Cecilia Ogwal which happened today, Thursday January 18th morning in India where she was taken to receive specialised cancer treatment.
While speaking to the media earlier, the speaker of parliament Anita Among described the late as a patriot who worked tirelessly to develop her country and will be missed by the parliament of Uganda, the people of Lango, all women in Uganda and the country at large.
Speaker Among further noted that the late will be remembered for not allowing to be undermined as a woman and she always fought to be on top and act which encouraged other women.
She also described the late has a distinguished legislator and a God fearing person who was an inspirational to all Ugandans and women.
The speaker further noted that parliament, the Lango parliamentary forum together with the family are working hard to repatriate the body back home from India and they will keep the country posted on the next program.
The late served as a member of parliament from 1996-2006 and from 2006 to date were he represented Lira municipality and Dokolo district respectively, she was also a secretary general for UPC in 1985, she was also a member of the contingency assembly where she played a vital role in shaping the 1995 constitution, she was an accountant, she served as a member of the pan African parliament and she always advocated for rule of law.
