Aspeeding truck claimed lives of 2 people in Bugiri before getting into a mosque which was severally damaged along the Jinja Iganga Busia highway in Busowa town council Bugiri district.
The deceased includes apregnant woman who is not yet identified and another one and the bodies were taken to Bugiri General Hospital mortuary for postmortem and awaiting their relatives to pick them.
As aresult of the angry locals, the driver of thentruck reg no. KDE 144Q fled away for fear of being attacked. Eye witnesses noted that the speeding truck rammed into the mosque and destroyed part of it and some of the property inside the mosque.
The Imam of the mosque Mohammed Namia expressed gratitude to God for saving the lives of the pupils who were inside having Quran lessons who escaped without being armed, but all the learning materials were destroyed.
