The priest of St. Barnabas church of Uganda Lweza, in Kabowa Parish, Mengo Archdeaconry in Namirembe Diocese, has showed concern over those who appreciate the efforts of the people of positive impact through awarding them with medals after they die. He argued church to adopt a tendency of awarding medals to long serving Christians and those Christians who have been of great impact towards their churches before they die.
He mentioned this while celebrating St. Barnabas day which is meant to commend all the Christians who spearheaded the foundation of this church. And launching of the church fencing project which was meant to fundraise for the construction of the fence around the church land.
During the church service held at this church on Sunday 02 July 2023, the church priest Ronald Ntale called upon families of the deceased who laid a foundation towards the development of the church to follow their parents legacy as away of keeping the church activities moving.
“If it was not the efforts of these people, you never know this church wouldnot have existed The priest said.” We are planning to come up with a book that talks about them respectively.
The Chairman of the organising committee for the church fencing project Ssalongo George Sekandi commended all Christians who have contributed towards church fencing and called upon more Christians to join the cause to see the success of the project.
The representatives from the deceased’s families each contributed towards the church fencing project, and among them include, the families of Justine Namuyomba 1 million, Sekiranda Muserebende 700,000, Nalongo Lwaswata 500,000, Nakintu Christine 500,000, Eliphaz Muhwezi 500,000 among others.
This church fencing project is aimed at surrounding the church land which is being misused by residents in activities that disrespect the church.
The budget for the completion of the whole project is estimated to be 24.000.000 Uganda shillings.
