The state minister in the prime minister’s office for Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region, Alice Karamuzi Kaboyo has expressed the need for the change in Uganda’s education curriculum so that it can benefit the pupils and students to fit in the country’s job market.
She mentioned this as she had joined St. Peters church of Uganda in Kalasa Makulubita Sub County in Luwero district on their jubilee celebrations. Minister noted that government hires experts from outside the country to perform some duties in Uganda, when Ugandan students cannot do the jobs, which is caused by the curriculum that is being used to teach them.
She said that Uganda has many developmental things which students don’t learn in school due to the curriculum and expressed the need to change the curriculum so that students can be able to get jobs even without completing education.
She noted that she decided to spend the whole day with the Luwero people for the love she has for Luwero district and the veterans who helped the country to get independence. She said that government has plans that 8th June every year, be a joint prayer day from Kalasa as a commemoration for the veterans and the whole of Luwero district. She says it will be better if it is done in this same place instead of rotating the district.
Minister called upon the church to join the government to help people get the money from government programs for their development as a way of fighting poverty from the church flock. She pointed out PDM and Emyooga which are still having many challenges in the area, and pledged to work hard to see the gaps closed.
Minister Kaboyo pledged to offer all the roofing needed for Kalasa mixed day and boarding primary school and the headmaster’s house. And as well supported the function preparations with 10 million shillings.
The care taker bishop of Luwero Diocese the Rt. Rev James William Ssebaggala commended the minister for the time she spent with them during the celebrations and for the support she has all along offered towards this church.
However, he appealed to the minister to convey their voice to the president of Uganda to help them support the Luwero pensioners building that was initiated by bishop Nsubuga to help the retired priests to earn money for their wellbeing which he said will be of great help to them.
The late Bishop Nkoyooyo’s wife Maama Ruth Nkoyooyo, commended all the people who have joined efforts to take care over Kalasa church and organising the function for the jubilee celebrations.
However, she asked the minister to help them work towards extending electricity in their area since it is hindering all the development activities that they would like to engage in as women and other people in the area.
The function was attended by Veterans, RDCs, head teachers, pupils and others.
