St. Steven Catholic church bid farewell to Reverend Father Remi Nyengere

The Vice President of the Republic of Uganda Jessica Alupo commended Rev Father Remi Nyengere for the close relationship, dedication and diligent service to Christians of St. Stephen catholic parish which has acted as a good example to the church.

She made the remarks during a thanksgiving mass of their outgoing and long-serving missionary Rev Father Remi Nyengere organized by Christians at St. Stephen’s secondary school in Katakwi. He was posted to Arusha, Tanzania.

The Vice President expressed that she has been working together with Rev Father Nyengere and they had a good interpersonal relationship during the time he was serving in Katakwi.

“He has been a good leader who visited Christians in their homes not only in Katakwi town council but also in villages to build sacrament. I pray to God to keep you safe while in Tanzania,” Alupo said.

She promised to work together with the new incoming parish priest in all church activities and administration. And added that the government is ready to work with all religious institutions and religious leaders across the country for the good of the country.

In his speech, Fr. Nyengere appreciated the vice president and the Christians for working together with him during his service in Katakwi and promised to remember Katakwi wherever he will go.

The incoming Parish Priest Fr. Wayesu acknowledged the contribution of Fr. Nyengere towards the spiritual, social and economic development of Christians of St. Stephen’s parish and promised to start from where he has stopped.

Father Nyengere has been the Dean of Katakwi Deanery and Parish Priest of St. Stephen Catholic Parish and he has served for Nine years since 2015, He has been replaced by Rev. Fr. Olivier Wayesu.

The Vice President gifted Reverend Father Nyengere with a cow as appreciation for his service.
