Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinal Draws Conducted

The draws for the quarter final stage of the 49th edition of Stanbic Uganda Cup have successfully been conducted on Wednesday 22 March 2023 at FUFA House, Mengo.

Where the former Champions, Vipers SC and Express FC had easy draws as they date Big League bottom sides, Calvary FC and Adjumani Town Council FC respectively.

During the quarter finals, games shall kick off at exactly 3:00PM and in case of a draw after normal time, extra time of 30 minutes shall be played.

When the teams will not separated after extra time, spot kicks shall be applied to determine the winner.

All quarter final games are expected to be played between 10th -15th April 2023

The function was graced by FUFA CEO, Edgar Watson Ssuubi who is also a tournament winner with SC Villa and FUFA Competition Director, Hajat Aisha Nalule along with former footballer Moses Matovu drawing the lots.

“I would like to congratulate the eight teams that have reached this level. Knockout competitions are never easy and at the moment, each of the clubs stands a chance to go ahead and win the trophy,” Edgar said,

“The Stanbic Uganda Cup is a prestigious competition that has legacy. It has created several stars and Champions.”he added.

Matovu who is also a legendary musician reminisced about his playing days in the 60s and urged the current crop of players to always give full commitment.

Hajat Aisha urged clubs to keep time and observe all competitions rules and regulation as well as avoiding fielding ineligible players.

The finals will be played in Lira, at Akiibua stadium.

BUL FC are the defending champion after beating Vipers 3-1 last season.

Police FC vs BUL FC –Kavumba Recreation Ground

Soltilo Bright Stars FC vs KCCA FC – Kavumba Recreation Ground

Adjumani Town Council FC vs Express FC – Paridi Stadium

Vipers SC vs Calvary FC – St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
