State Minister for Karamoja Agnes Nandutu has been granted a ten million shillings bail and each of her 3 surities bonded at 50 million shillings.
Nandutu has been on remand since 19 April. She is accused of being in possession of suspected government property. She is the 3rd Minister to be charged for their involvement in the scandal.
Nandutu was charged with dealing with suspect property contrary to section 21A (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act,2009 (As Amended)
Nandutu through her lawyers on Wednesday asked court to release her on bail citing her right to apply for bail and having substantial sureties. The lawyers presented three people including Budadiri West MP Nandala Mafabi, Gerald Nangoli, the Elgon North constituency legislator and the Bududa LC5 chairman,Amooti Milton Apollo.
On April 18, Ms Agnes Nandutu, the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, was arrested after she handed herself in to the CID headquarters at Kibuli, Kampala, for questioning over alleged theft of iron sheets meant for the vulnerable people in Karamoja and abuse of office.
The following day, she was arraigned at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo, Kampala where she was committed to High Court for trial and sent on remand to Luzira prison. On April 20, Nandutu applied for bail
