Proline FC vs Maroons FC

Proline FC have endured a disastrous start to the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League and many feel it may take a miracle if they are to stay up.

The Uganda Cup holders are currently bottom of the standings and facing a prospect of returning to the Big League once again.

On five points, they sit 9 points away from safety as Tooro United FC who currently occupy 13th spot have 14 (points).

Proline should not be in the situation they find themselves in if it wasn’t for themselves.

They refused to honour a home game against SC Villa earlier leading to six points being docked of them.

Since then, they have struggled to gather steady momentum and look increasingly likely to be among the teams that will be relegated at the end of the season.

However, lately, they seem to be improving.

In their last three fixtures, they have not lost a single game (W1 D2). The five points earned in that period is all they have.

With four more games to play before their first-round comes to an end, Proline must still have hope that maybe they are not doomed yet.

Against Maroons FC, they take on a side that has proved hard to beat this season.

The Prison side were given little chance going into the season but after 14 games, they have lost on only four occasions.

They are currently on a four-game unbeaten run which has seen them win once and picked up three draws.

In Steven Mukwala, they have the outright leading scorer of the league having scored 9 goals, one ahead of Vipers’ Fahad Bayo and Ben Ocen of Police

With Douglas Bamweyana at the helm, Maroons have played one of the most beautiful brands of football to watch this season and will indeed prove hard to put down when they take on Proline on Tuesday.

This will be the 7th meeting between the two sides since November 2010.

In the past six meetings, Maroons have triumphed twice, Proline also twice while the other two have all ended in draws.

Maroons’ two victories all came last season as they completed a first-ever double over Proline.

At Lugogo, Proline have won twice and lost once in their three games at home to Maroons.

Going into the game, Proline have won just one of their last 7 league games (D2 L4).

However, at home, they have won three of their first five games of the campaign, losing the other two.

For Maroons, they have lost only one of their last five league fixtures (W1 D3).

Away from home, they have also been impressive lately as they have lost only one of their last five fixtures (W2 D2).
