Uganda wildlife authority marathon fifth edition has successfully ended.

The marathon attracted over 10,000 participants the 5th edition the first time to reach that landmark.

Last year the marathon attracted 3000 participants which is thrice of this years number. Chemonges Sabilla the Deputy legal and cooperate affair in charge of sport has hailed this years Marathon to be successful towards Uganda wildlife authority’s plans of involving the public in wildlife protection.

“This is a right call as we want to involve every body in the course of wildlife protection, we decided to come up with the marathon because we found out that it something to bring us closer with the public and we have got no regret’.

The Minister of tourism Tom Butime has also hailed this marathon for its impact towards tourism in the country.

“This activity is a part of world wildlife day which will be held in Kisoro on third March, but it also gives us a chance on sensitizing the public about the important of wildlife” “Alots of international tourist coming here just because wildlife were finished in their homelands it is an opportunity for us to still have a real animals they are coming here to see a real lion and other animals it is important to us our children and our GDP.

We receive over 1.7 billion dollars annually and if we don’t protect them they will get finished and we will lose alot”.

42km Men: Lubega Robert Kabagambe Julius Salimo David.

42km Women: Prisca Chesanga Chesanga Ndiwa Nansamba Grace.

21km Men: Kwendi Salim Korir Paul Ategeka Brian Paul.

21km Women: Chesanga Juliet Chelangat Sharon Chelangat Sylvia.

10km men: Samuel Chemtai Okwi Chris Nkoyoyo Andrew.

10km Women: Chemusto Kerine Cherukut Helen Pamela Marry.

5km: Omara Reymond Fadhil Jaffari Akibua Leonard.
