The Archbishop opens St. Mark Kikandwa church of Uganda

Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace The Most Rt.Rev.Dr Samuel Steven Kaziimba Mugalu called upon christians to spare time to work together with people in the communities to see that they can develop, as Gen Katumba Wamala contributed towards the construction of the church in Kikandwa.

As he was officially opening St.Mark Kikandwa Church of Uganda in Namaliri Parish, Kasawo Archdeaconry in Mukono Diocese, The Archbishop noted that christians need to go back to their communities and work towards their development so that people living in such communities develop.

The Archbishop also appealed to christians to use the church in humility in God’s presence and act as good examples in their communities as it will help add value to the commmunity, and appreciated Gen Katumba Wamala for his contribution towards the construction of the church.

Church of Uganda, in Namaliiri parish, Kasawo Archdeaconry, Mukono Diocese, which we consecrated today. I thank God for Gen. Wamala’s gesture of thankfulness.” Rt. Rev. Dr. Steven Kazimba Mugalu said.

The Bishop of Mukono Diocese The Rt Revrand Enos Kitto Kagoddo appealed to Christians who are to use this church to maintain it so that they value the contributions from the people. He led the confirmation of over 95 children at the same function.

Minister in charge of Norms, Beliefs, Tourism and Safety in Buganda Kingdom Owek Antony Wamala commended the unity among Christians during the construction of the church and urged them to use the church to spread the gospel of love and togetherness.

General Katumba Wamala and his family expressed gratitude towards God for giving him a second chance in life siting the tragedy which claimed the life of his daughter and almost took his life 2 years back. He urged people of Kikandwa to look at this church as a gift from God but not Gen Katumba as a person.

The Archbishop was accompanied by the Bishop of Mukono Diocese , The Rt.Rev.Enos Kitto Kagoddo, Gen Katumba Wamala and Family, The Retired Bishop of Central Buganda, Bishop Emeritus Jackson Matovu, The Bishop elect of Namirembe Diocese, Ven Canon Moses Banja and his wife Prof. Dr. Banja Nasakka , Canons, Clergy, Lay Readers, Members of Parliament, and many Christians. And during the service , over 2,000,000 shillings was collected as contribution towards buying the Mukono Diocese Mission Truck to be used in spreading the gospel throughout the Diocese.
