The Bishop elect of Namirembe Diocese Banja pays a courtesy visit to the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom

The New elected Bishop of Namirembe Diocese The Rt Revrand Moses Banja has commended the Buganda Kingdom for the prayers they offered during the challenging period when Namirembe diocese was going through the election process of the new Bishop.

Bishop Banja is the new Bishop of Namirembe Diocese replacing Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira and his concecretion is to take place on 10th December 2023 at Namirembe cathedral.

The house of the Bishops was challenged by the process of the election of the new Bishop until they got to the conclusion and appointed Canon Banja out of the 10 contestants who were standing for the position.

Bishop Moses Banja noted that it was achallenging moment for the Diocese when it was electing the new Bishop but because of the prayers from the Kingdom and people around the country, they finally appointed him out of the many.

He pledged to work together with the Kingdom since Namirembe diocese and Buganda Kingdom both need each other in different aspects as they have many things in common.

Representing the Buganda Prime Minister in Bulange mengo, the 2nd Deputy Katikkiro of Buganda Owek Robert Wagwa Nsibirwa has congraculated Bishop Banja upon reaching this role and pledged on behalf of the Kingdom to work together with the Bishop and his team as he takes on his responsibility.

Owek Nsibirwa warned the Bishop to be careful when speaking especially in the public, to avoid politicizing issues into the public but rather sit with people in person to put things right just incase of any necessary need.

He also challenged Bishop Banja to try as much as he can to be visible throughout the Diocese so that he serves all people whole heartedly but not to stick in only Namirembe.

He encouraged the Bishop to always come to Buganda Kingdom for any reason necessary since all doors are widely open for him for the good of his service.

The bishop was accompanied by the assistant bishop of Kampala diocese bishop Hannington Mutebi, the dean of Namirembe diocese Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi Ssalongo, Bishops brother John Walakira, H/m Gayaza Junior School Sarah Kizito, the Bishop’s wife Canon Professor Oliva Nassakka Banja among others.
