The Crested Cranes arrived safely in Tanzania ahead of CECAFA Women’s senior challenge cup

The Uganda national Ladies football team ( the Crested Cranes) 20 ladies squad have arrived safely in Tanzania this afternoon ahead of CECAFA Women’s senior challenge cup.

Uganda will be part of the regional CECAFA Women’s senior challenge cup that will take place from Thursday 16th to 25th of November, 2019 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Crested Cranes will be accommodated at Shaphir Court Hotel

The squad was announced on Thursday morning via FUFA’s official website.

It comprises of three goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and six attackers.

Uganda were second overall in last year’s edition held in Rwanda.

UCU Lady Cardinals’ goalkeeper Ruth Aturo is the team captain and she will be assisted by Bridget Nabisaalu (She Corporate) and Fazila Ikwaput (Lady Doves) as first and second assistants respectively.

The team will travel to Tanzania on Thursday 14th November after completing over a week in camp at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Uganda is in Group B alongside Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya.

On Sunday 17th November 2019, Uganda will play their first group match against Djibouti at Chamazi Stadium.

The second game will come against Ethiopia on Tuesday 19th November before finalizing the group matches with a duel against rivals Kenya on Thursday 21st November at Chamazi Stadium

The top two teams in groups A and B will qualify for the semifinals.

Defenders: Viola Namuddu (Makerere University), Shadia Nankya (UCU Lady Cardinals), Bridget Nabisaalu (She Corporate),  Eunice Ariokot (Olila High School )  Grace Aluka ( Kawempe Muslim SS Ladies FC), Aisha Namukisa (Kampala Queens).

Midfielders: Asia Nakibuuka (Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC),  Riticia Nabbosa (Lady Doves),Harriet Nakuba (Kampala Queens), Amina Nababi (Makerere University), Fauzia Najjemba (Kampala Queens)

Forwards: Hasifa Nassuna (UCU Lady Cardinals), Juliet Nalukenge (Kawempe Muslim), Margret Kunihira (Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC), Zainah Namuleme (Kampala Queens), Fazila Ikwaput (Lady Doves), Shamirah Nalugya (Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC)
