The health committee of parliament has toured the hospitals around Wakiso district to check on the state and management and find out what is needed for service delivery in these hospitals to be effective while serving ugandans who access them.

Health facilities which have been visited include; Kakiri, Wakiso and Namayumba health centre IVs among others. However, patients who have been found in the visited hospitals reported to the committee that they have to pay money to the medical staff for them to get services from the hospitals which  scares many from seeking for medical attention from such hospitals.

Wakiso district health officer Mathias Lugoloobi has expressed concern over the limited funds from government allocated to the hospitals in the district which makes service delivery difficult. He urged government to provide more resources so that they can manage people’s health challenges in the district.

Wakiso district chairperson Matia Lwanga Bwanika noted that wakiso district is heavily populated therefore, it needs to be allocated with enough funding for the convinience of the people living in the district. He noted equiping hospitals to manage their health challenges.

Wakiso district woman MP Betty Ethel Naluyima has shown concern over the health challenges faced in the district and pledged that the parliamentary health committee is to work hard to see that such challenges are resolved to improve on the service delivery in the hospitals around Wakiso district.

The chairman for the health committee of parliament Dr. Samuel Opio stated that they have been receiving complaints about different health challenges  from Wakiso district which is one of the reasons they have decided to check on these hospitals. He added that action is to be taken as soon as possible to see an improvement in service delivery from these health centres.
