The Minister of Energy has been summoned tomorrow by the speaker of Parliament Anita Among to report to parliament on how ready Uganda is to handle any emergency of fuel crisis in case riots in Kenya continue.
This arose after Nakaseke South MP Paul Luttamaguzi raised a matter of concern in today’s plenary asking the government to explain to Ugandans on what measures they are undertaking to address the likely crisis in commodity prices that may arise due to the political riots in Kenya.
Kenyans main opposition Raila Odinga announced weekly demonstrations against the sitting government of President William Ruto every Monday and Thursdays in protest of the high cost of living.
However in attempt to answer the concern of the house, the state minister for trade David Bahati said that government was still studying the situation in Kenya which didn’t answer the concern of MPs causing the Speaker Among to summon the minister of energy tomorrow to report to parliament with a detailed report on Ugandans fuel reserves in case a fuel crisis arose.
Meanwhile in the same sitting the speaker of Parliament Among requested the government to consider reducing taxes on cooking gas to enable Ugandans access them at a cheaper price.
This was in respect to the increasing deforestation due to the high demand of charcoal which has led to some parts of the country to suffer from mudslides, thunders and others as a result of the current rains.
