Following the circulation of rumors and media reports about new COVID-19 cases in areas such as Hoima, Wakiso, Buliisa, and Kampala, the Ministry of Health has come forward to clarify the situation.
The Ministry stated that the videos being circulated are old clips reshared by unscrupulous individuals intending to mislead the public.
The Ministry reassures the public that there is no resurgence of COVID-19 in Uganda and that the national situation remains stable and fully under control since the end of the major outbreak three years ago.
The Ministry also states that it has consistently monitored trends to ensure early detection and prompt response.
A statement signed by Dr. Charles Olaro, Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, indicates that the Ministry continues to monitor information about new strains of COVID-19 reported in various parts of the world and is working in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure the continued safety of the population.

He adds that Uganda continues to benefit from a strong surveillance and response system, which has been built over time and remains fully active and capable of detecting and addressing public health threats.
However, the Ministry cautions the public that anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should visit the nearest health facility for treatment and management.
