Today, Tuesday September 26, Uganda Ludo Federation led by president Hussein Kalule has sent only Seven players to defend ALCON title that they won in 2021 amidst a lot of monetary challenges. The team left for Pretoria south Africa to honour African Lugdo Cup of Nations.
Despite government’s failure to raise necessary funds for team (Uganda Ludo Doves) 20 man squad all tougher for both men and women.
The tournament defending Champions, Uganda now will be at the 2023 Africa Ludo Cup of Nations (AL-C0N) scheduled for 27th -30th September 2023 in Pretoria South Africa.
Due to lack of government support, Uganda’s She Doves will not be featuring at the continental showpiece.
This means that Uganda has not taken a female team due to failure of making up the standard numbers that are required.
This time the Uganda government has not helped the team in forms of funding that’s why it has not managed to carry a complete team, and the ladies will not play because they are not making up the numbers required.
The federation and the well wishers have funded the team in order to protect the reputation of the Federation but however there is still hope for government to give a hand.
The federation president and the team leaders are calling upon the government to held them because it’s not too late yet so the funds are still needed.
The team leader says Uganda men team will not play on Wednesday and Thursday because these days were supposed to be for females which Uganda has failed honour and so the Men’s will kick off on Friday and Saturday.
The president Mr. Hussein Kalule says, this so bad for Uganda not to take the ladies team and this may cause Uganda lose some points.
The squad that has made it this early morning comprise of two women and five men:
Nagadya Betty
Nakabuye Rose
Mubiru Emmanuel
Matovu Huzaifa
Mayanja Henry
Ssenkumba Abdul
Ssembusi Mike
