The Pool Association of Uganda together with the National Team Technical Committee have on Friday evening announced that they finalised the Selection exercise for the national teams and named the final squads for men and ladies side that with represennt the country at this year’s All African Pool Championships due to take place this month in Mpumalanga- South Africa.

14 men and 12 ladies were summoned and started preparations two months ago. They have been involved in bi-weekly Training Sessions at D’arena and Cuesports House under Ag Coach Nathan Bwankosya since then.

Two weeks ago, the team was trimmed to 9 men and 9 ladies. However due to last minute financial disappointment from NCS, the team had to be inevitably reduced to 6 men and 6 ladies. The Technical committee resolved to subject them to a selection exercise which has happened trans-day at D’Arena for the last 4 days. All players versed one another in a league format with an option of a Second Life.

The Selection resulted to the squads bellow as in order of performance;

Ladies squad:

  1. RASHIDA MUTESI(Kampala Central)
  2. SHARON MIREMBE(Ntinda Giants)
  3. RITAH NIMUSIIMA(Upper Volta-BobMale)
  4. FAITH AMINA NGANDA(Upper Volta-BobMale)
  5. RUKIA NAIGA(Kampala Central)
  6. VICTORIA NAMUYANJA(Kampala Central)

Men squad:

  1. SIMON LUBULWA(Scrap Buyers)
  2. IBRAHIM SSEJJEMBA(Ntinda Giants)
  3. CAESAR CHANDIGA(Ronz)
  4. JOSEPH KASOZI(Ntinda Giants)
  5. ALFRED GUMIKIRIZA(Ntinda Giants)
  6. GEOFFREY SETTUMBA(Ntinda Giants)

➡This is the official Squad of players to represent Uganda for the forth-coming AAPA championships

Other players within the Pool Cranes set-up have an opportunity to make the trip, as long as they can meet their financial costs for Visa fees, meals and Accommodation, Such players may be facilitated with Travel expenses.

The visa application exercise takes effect early next week. Such players need to confirm their intention to travel, during this weekend.

Traveling officials will contrbute part of the trip financial expenses.

Team captains for the event will be named this Sunday. The Technical Committee has decided that the players will elect the captains amongst themselves. “We still appeal to the general public for funds to finance the trip more effectively as time is running out, with some costs not met so far, “Simon P.
