Thousands of Dokolo District residents gathered today at Dokolo Technical School to pay their last respects to Hon. Celia Ogwal

Thousands of Dokolo District residents gathered today, Wednesday January 24th 2024 at Dokolo Technical School to pay their last respects to the late legislator, Hon. Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal.

The joint council sitting, chaired by Dokolo District’s Speaker, Joel Okuma, included councillors from various District Councils, executive members from the 9 Districts, and Lira City of Lango Subregion.

The FDC Party was well-represented at the Joint District Council by Party President, Hon. Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Hon. Moses Okot B’tek (Kioga County MP and FDC National Legal and Constitutional Affairs Secretary), and Hon. Otto James Apili (Dokolo District LC5 Chairman and FDC National Vice Chairman for Northern Uganda).

The Party’s grassroots leadership from Lango Subregion also participated among others.

Hon. Eng. Amuriat, paying tribute to the late Hon. Cecilia, recalled their time together in Parliament, where they both served on the Physical Infrastructure Committee.

Hon. Cecilia Ogwal was praised for her advocacy for the tarmacking of the Soroti-Lira Road, her dedication to multiparty democracy, commitment to good governance, and her significant role in peace-building throughout her tenure.

The late legislator’s body is currently at her Lira City residence for a night vigil.

Tomorrow, it will proceed to a Church Service at St. August Cathedral Bar-Ogole at 9:00 am, followed by a departure for St. Paul’s Church Alito Archdeaconry, Kole District, at 3:00 pm.
