Three former champions to battle it out for this year’s Masaza ga Busoga cup glory as it riches the quarter final stage

Three teams in the quarterfinals have tasted Busoga Masaza Cup glory before as against five others who are chasing it for the first time.

Between the three ex-winners there are three trophies. Bukooli North, Butembe and Kigulu.

Five chiefdom’s are chasing a historic first. Bugweri, Bunha, Bunhoole Bunha-numba,  Buzaya and Bugabula. Incidentally that number will come down Wednesday 20th\Nov\2019 as the last four will be sorted out as the race towards the final heats up. Will it be a former winner taking back the trophy of it will be a virgin winner – Time will tell (finals 8th\Dec\2019 Kakindu Stadium).

Bunha vs. Bugweri

KO:2:00PM@ Saaza Ground,Iganga.

This fixture takes place at the Saaza ground in Iganga at 2:00 pm pitting the lions of Bunha against the Eleven Tigers of Bugweri.

The two teams, who have never won the prestigious prize, will be hoping to book a place in the semi-finals and take a step towards making history.

Bunha go into the match as favourites only that they had a miss-understanding in their camp (politically affecting the team), but will be wary of a Bugweri side that is over coming the similar political interference’s but set to challenge, to win or lose a match at the tournament its pain full but we came out in the group of football giants like Bukooli North and Budiope to stalemates.

‘‘We should give every team its right and respect Bunha. There are no small teams in Masaza, the quality is very similar. While they might be favorites on paper, papers don’t decide anything,’‘ said Bugweri manager Ali Wacha.

‘‘Our presence at this stage is not out luck, we worked hard and I believe in my players only that at this stage politics its to much in the team camp and am looking forward to make my decision any time because i have invested in the team a lot ,’‘ argued Bunha manager, Odur Jacob.

Buhna were runners up two times  2016 and 2017.

The first recorded ever champions (2016)Bukooli North, will take on Butembe’s (Enhina Yo mupiira) who won the tournament in 2017.

The Baise wakooli who overcame their nemesis Bugweri and Budiope in group C will be hoping to avoid the fate of absence in the finals of the past  two editions , who were upset by the opponents and kigulu respectively.

‘‘We’re preparing very well for the game because it will be very difficult and against a strong team,’‘ Bukooli Manager, Tibasula Sulaiman said, ahead of the 4:00 pm fixture at the Saaza ground in Iganga.

‘‘Bukooli North is one of the best teams in the tournament and it’s going to be a difficult match, but we are ready our aim is finals ,’‘ conceded Manager Butembe, Mukose Rajab.

Kigulu vs. Bunhole Bunha-numba

The defending champions kigulu (Benhe bitonhe) are back in action against on form Bunha-numba in the early quarter finals at kyabazinga stadium,Bugembe.

Kigulu path to this stage was without blemish. Winning two games and two draws conceding one goal. They finished top of their group B (Buzaya, Bukono).

The Bunhole were second in their group D which had Bugabula, and Bukooli south. Their only victory came against Bukooli south at home. They qualified with five points conceding one goal.

Bugabula is the only team that qualified without conceding a goal, are one of three that qualified without loosing a single game from their group. They won two and two draws. others past group stages without loosing (Kigilu,Bukooli North).The two chiefdom’s are incidentally from North Busoga side.

The two teams, are looking forward registering history in Busoga masaza cup there belonging to a past editions comparatively referent to the present.
