Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry has announced a 20-man squad ahead of the double header against South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers qualifiers.
Uganda is slated to host South Sudan on March 28 before travelling away to them in Khartoum for the second game, the following week.
The squad that was announced on Thursday afternoon consists of just 20 players.
However, It is understood that five more players (all local-based) will join up with the team to take the tally to 25.
Among the 20 that were announced, three are potential debutants, all playing in the United Kingdom.
The 3 new faces are ;
RWOMONO ELVIS OKELLO: He’s based in UK playing as a right back at English League one side South End ,a club managed by Sol Campbell.
(Born in Gulu, Uganda but left the country when he was aged 4yrs to England but now is 21yrs)
MUBIRU IKPEAZU UCHE: The 25yr old forward was born to a Nigerian father & his mother is of Ugandan decent .
Currently plays for Hearts(Scotland)
JAYDEN ONEN: A graduate of the Arsenal Academy ,the 19yr old plays for Brentford B (Reserve side of Brentford)
The squad features only two goal keepers-Denis Onyango and Salim Jamal with KCCA FC captain Charles Lukwago expected to join them later.
Uganda is in group B alongside Burkina Faso, South Sudan and Malawi.
They are currently leading the standings with four points after drawing away to Burkina Faso and defeating Malawi 2-0 in Namboole.
