Mr. Shaban Lubega, has walked away from his post as media officer of Tooro United FC barely two months after taking charge.
Mr. Lubega who replced Nsereko Musoke Issa in September this year, his departure takes immediate effect comes in the wake of massive controversy, stemming from club leadership’s failure to pay players and the coaching staffs.
“The purpose of the letter is to inform you that I’m stepping down as media officer for your company/club Tooro United FC with immediate effect, so you can take me off your list of employees,” reads in parts, his resignation letter dated, Tuesday, November 12 to club president Sperito Ssesanga.
Mr. Lubega was understood to be unhappy with the leadership at Uganda Premier League soccer side Tooro United during his brief spell in charge of media duties before suddenly walking away on Tuesday.
This website understands that Tooro United have failed to pay staff and players on time for the three month in a row.
This has resulted in the players going on strike in support of the coaches and stadium staff missing their wages.
There has also been doubt over recent games against Mbarara City, SC Villa and Proline FC going ahead due to concerns over policing costs.
Sources last month speculated the club risks going into administration.
Meanwhile, at the time of signing the contract, Mr. Lubega had said that “it is one of my dreams coming true.”
“Tooro United is a club that I have followed for long and I love the way it is run,” he said two months ago.
It is important to note that Tooro United FC also lost their head Coach Wasswa Bbosa late last month.
