Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane could reportedly be in line for a mammoth £400,000-a-week contract if he commits his future to the Lilywhites.

As things stand, the England captain will be able to walk away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a free transfer when his current deal expires at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Despite his sustained individual success, the 29-year-old is yet to win a major team trophy with Tottenham, who have not got their hands on a piece of silverware since the 2007-08 EFL Cup.

Two years on from trying and failing to force a move away amid interest from Manchester City, speculation over Kane’s future is heating up once again, as all of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

Bayern are already believed to have made two bids for the striker, both of which have been rejected by Spurs, whose chairman Daniel Levy insists that Kane is still not for sale this summer.

Instead, Levy is working to convince Kane that his future lies with Tottenham, and The Telegraph states that Spurs are willing to sanction a club-record £400,000-a-week deal for the 29-year-old should he snub interest from elsewhere.

Upon his return to Hotspur Way for pre-season training this week, Kane is expected to hold face-to-face talks with new head coach Ange Postecoglou, who has conceded that he has been offered no guarantees over the marksman’s future.

However, Levy is hopeful that Postecoglou’s high-intensity, attacking brand of football can finally steer Tottenham to more silverware, in turn benefitting their chances of retaining Kane’s services.

Nevertheless, the report adds that Kane is currently showing no willingness to sign a new deal, and a club’s sporting project will be a bigger factor in his next career move than financial incentives.

Despite the risk of losing Kane for nothing in 2024, Levy is supposedly prepared to continue contract talks with the 29-year-old – who can begin talking to foreign clubs in January – into the final year of his deal.

The former Arsenal and Watford academy product was originally expected to remain in England with Manchester United, given his well-documented desire to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring

However, the Red Devils have now moved on to other targets after baulking at Levy’s asking price, and Kane is now believed to be open to moving to Bayern, whose head coach Thomas Tuchel has assured him and his family that their transition to life in Germany will be a smooth one.

Kane was a shining light in a troubled season for Tottenham last term, coming up with 30 goals in 38 Premier League matches, taking his total for the Lilywhites to a record 280 efforts in 435 games – surpassing the late Jimmy Greaves.

Only Erling Haaland (36) netted more in the top flight than England’s all-time leading goalscorer, but Spurs suffered a disappointing eighth-placed finish and will be without European football for the first time in 14 years next season.

As he endeavours to lead Spurs back into the top four, Postecoglou has overseen the arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison this summer, while the signing of Manor Solomon on a free transfer is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
