TWO BOMBS RECOVERED IN AREAS OF KAMPALA AND WAKISO

Two improvised explosive devices (locally made booms) were recovered and detonated on Monday September 4, 2023 in the areas of Natete Lugaba division Kampala district and Ngobe village Bunamwaya division Makindye Ssaabagabo Municipality in Wakiso district.

This was confirmed by the UPDF first division spokesperson major Charles Kabona immediately after the detonation of these booms confirming that nobody was affected.

He said joint operations of UPDF, Uganda police force, Iso and other sister forces to recover locally made booms, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and also to arrest those terrorists who are trying to cause havoc in the country.

 “As you are all aware that one boom was also recovered at Pastor Robert Kayanja’s church Ndeeba Kampala and two have today discovered at Mabiito Pub Lubaga division Kampala district and Peaceful Guest House Ngobe Bunamwaya Makindye Ssabagabo division Wakiso district” Kabona said.

Kabona further advised the public that whoever comes across any material at any vicinity not to rush to touch it because it may be a boom”

“These terrorism acts are done by people just to destabilize security but we will keep on fighting them as we have been always doing both within and outside the country,” Kabona added.

The Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said 13 people were arrested and detained at Natete police station in connection to these booms as investigation is going on.

Onyonga further appealed to the owners and proprietors of any accommodation places to now commence registration of each and every person who visits them for stay as a way to fight such scenarios.

“We now direct each and every person who owns accommodation places to register any guest who visits them with a national identity card, passport, right contacts or any traveling documents as a measure to fight such acts,” Onyango added.

“We have also arrested several suspects regarding this scenario at Lungujja, Lubaga cathedral in the ongoing joint security operation,” Onyango added.

The chairperson of Ngobe village at Bunamwaya Makindye Ssaabagabo division Vincent Kayima advised all proprietors of accommodation places to always inform the authority of their places to lay down strategies on how to maintain security.

Major Kabona the operation is still going on to fight such terrorism acts to stabilize the country and urged the public to be security conscious, however he linked these acts to Allied Defense Forces (ADF).
