Police in Mukono is hunting for two people suspected to have had a hand in killing a cab driver at Seeta, Kampala-Jinja highway.
The assailants, according to investigators, hired the driver identified as Christopher Batte, 58, a resident of Nyenje, to transport them to Bajjo village.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident.
Batte, according to investigators, was strangled and stabbed to death. His body was bundled in the car, registration number UAY 765H, a Toyota Premio. However, it developed a mechanical problem midway.
“It got stuck and they had to call people around to help push it back on road. However, they realized blood was dripping from the trunk,” Owoyesigyire said. It is then that they were attacked by mob.
“On opening the car trunk, the body was discovered and immediately mob attacked the suspects, injuring one while two escaped in the confusion (a man and a woman).” Owoyesigyire said.
The suspect is at a medical centre in Mukono for treatment as hunt for his accomplices continue.
