Aleksander Čeferin to Check on UEFA-funded Aliguma Foundation Projects in Uganda

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin is planning to visit Uganda on March 14th to check on the projects of the Aliguma Foundation.

The foundation, created by sports journalist Ritah Aliguma, aims to help underprivileged people through sports. It recently received a grant from the UEFA Foundation for Children as part of its 65 humanitarian projects worldwide.

Čeferin’s primary purpose is to see the foundation’s work firsthand. Although they are unable to tour all the project locations due to time constraints, preparations are underway, and all partner schools are excited.

The foundation has undertaken numerous projects, including the renovation of the multi-purpose Acholi Quarters Playground, upgrading the structures and status of the Annual Banda Slums Soccer Tournament, purchasing a 15-acre piece of land in Kinuuma Village, Masindi District, and commencing construction work at the Aliguma Foundation Sports & Empowerment Center (AFSEC).

The UEFA President and his entourage will arrive at Entebbe International Airport via the VIP Lounge on March 14th at 5 pm and transfer to Serena Hotel Kampala for the night.

The following day, they will transfer to Acholi Quarters from Serena Hotel to participate in a charity march in Kireka Banda B1 Zone, meet with the First Lady of Uganda at the State House, and conclude the visit with exhibitions and a sports gala at Acholi Quarters before returning to Entebbe International Airport for departure.

The foundation sees Čeferin’s visit as historic and significant since it has only been in existence since 2017.
