UEFA President praises the works of Aliguma Foundation

The President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Aleksander Ceferin is in Uganda on an official visit to the Aliguma Foundation. 

Ceferin touched base in Uganda on Tuesday night and yesterday managed to visit the Foundation at their place in Banda slums (Acholi Quarters) where they held a football tournament to showcase the Aliguma Foundation aims and targets in creating social impact through football.

The Slovenia born was carried away by the great works the foundation has done in the Kasokoso area slums and was left in wonders on his supervision duties at the Aliguma Foundation.

“This is amazing,it is an emotional experience as it helps us to know what real life feels like,I am really grateful to Ritah and the Foundation.” Said Aleksander Ceferin.

While appearing on NBS sport TV, the UEFA President narrated on his major role and why he was invited to come and visit the Foundation.

 “Our foundation for children is supporting the Aliguma Foundation, so I decided to come and see what exactly happening in Uganda in regards to the development.”

The Aliguma Foundation is one of the projects that received a grant from the UEFA Foundation for Children for the first time as one of 65 humanitarian projects funded by the project’s Sports for Resilience and Empowerment that totaled €4.9 million (about UGX 19.1 billion) in 2019.  

Mr. Ceferin after visiting and supervised the Aliguma foundation, he seemed to be is convinced the works done as he promised to give more support to the foundation.

During the visitation, UEFA president donated balls, clothes, sanitary pads and books to students and pupils who took part in the footballing activities organised and thereafter he headed to state house to meet president Museveni, along with NCS chairman Mr. Ambrose Tosabya, state minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang and third vice president FUFA, Nakiwala Kiyingi.
