Uganda attends the Pre-COP 28 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Uganda’s delegation led by H.E Adonia Ayebare, Permanent Representative of Uganda to the United Nations is participating in the Pre COP 28 happening in Abu Dhabi from 30-31 October 2023.

The two day event which kicked off on Monday October 30th, 2023 was officially opened by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, President – Designate for COP28 UAE who called on the world to unite on climate action.

The opening ceremony was followed by a plenary round table and thereafter break out sessions on thematic areas of adaptation, mitigation and means of implementation.

H.E Adonia Ayebare in his statement during the Plenary Roundtable, towards a transformational Global Stocktaking, noted that climate action and development go hand in hand and that Global Stocktaking should become the global goal under adaptation as it is not only a forum of accountability but also for continuous improvement. He reiterated Uganda’s commitment to work with everyone as it takes over the chairmanship of G77.

Pre-COP 28 is a preparatory meeting of Ministers and negotiators ahead of COP 28. COP 28 will take place from 30 November – 12 December 2023 in in Dubai, UAE. Uganda is among the counties that will be having a pavilion during the COP 28 conference.
