The head coach of Uganda cranes Johnathan Mckinstry has said he is ready for the tight March and April schedule.
The 2020 African Nations championship (CHAN) finals are slated for April 4th to 25th in Cameroon, ideally, that would mean, Cranes will start early preparation in march.
It is around the same time that the cranes will also have the back to back 2021 African cup of nations qualifier against south Sudan , but that is not on the list of worries for head coach Johnathan Mckinstry.
“Previously we had anticipated we would be having world cup qualifiers in March and June, with the AFCON games resuming in September, so we were expecting competitive game “, Johnathan insisted.
Now with AFCON games being brought forward this means that as soon as that happened, we are able to start preparing for South Sudan games in terms of various analyses their strength and weakness he noted.
The games against South Sudan will make or break the Cranes AFCON campaign as the side targets maximum points which would take their tally to nine.
Also, huge confidence boost going into the CHAN finals especially for the players who will be part of both ends, Mckinstry believes the timing allows them to adequate preparations. “So making sure all the arrangements and logistics are done effectively will help players to focus on the football because there will not be any hiccups”, he added.
The change of the 2021 Africa cup of Nations from June/July to January/ February means that the Cranes are going to have a busy 2020, Mckinsyry is not fazed by that. “Ultimately it doesn’t have much of an impact really because we always know when the FUFA windows were”.
While Uganda tries to impress at the CHAN in April, Qualify for the 2021 Nations cup, their Qatar 2020 World cup qualifiers will be underway and that starts with a face off with Mail in August in group E that also has Kenya and Rwanda.
Awesome post! Keep up the great work! 🙂
