Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 draws

The round of 32 draws for the Forty sixth edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup were held on Monday morning at FUFA House in Mengo.

The draws were conducted by former KCCA and former Uganda Cup winner Fredrick Musisi Kiyingi in the presence of Stanbic Bank Senior Marketing Manager Sonia Karamagi, alongside FUFA deputy CEO in charge of Football development Decolas Kiiza and FUFA Competitions Director Hajjat Aisha Nalule.

‘The thirty-two teams comprise of eleven Premier League teams, twelve  Big League and nine regional side teams.’

‘We have not seeded any club this time and we request the clubs to honor their fixtures because failure to will lead sanctions. In case normal time ends in a draw, teams will straight away go for kicks from the penalty mark and anytime which accumulates for or more yellow cards will pay a fine of Ug She 100,000‘ FUFA Competitions Director Hajat Aisha Nalule noted.

One of the games I remember in the Uganda Cup is when we faced Express FC at the semifinal in 1985. We had played against SC Villa at the quarter-final and we won 2-1 where I scored one of the goals. Express was our next opponent in the Semifinal. The game was 3- and we won a penalty in the dying minutes. Steven Segujja the Express goalie then ran away from the goal until it was dark & the game was abandoned. We refused a replay the game & Sports Minister of that time James Rwanyarare intervened & we agreed to replay the game. We played the game & I scored the goal from late Hassan Biruma cross. We played Nile in the finals & I assisted John Kamoga to score the goal & there was an incident that led Nile FC abandoned the match thus we were crowed winners.’ Fred Musisi Kiyingi stated.

Holders Proline will face Admin at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo as Buganda regional side Kajjansi United who eliminated Vipers SC will host Sports Club Villa, whilewill face Bukedea Town Council and last year’s losing finalists Bright Stars will entertain Free Stars, among other duels.
