The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sam Kutesa has on Tuesday 5 officially launched the Uganda-DRC Business Forum 2019. The Forum will take place as part of the activities of the State Visit of H.E. Felix Tshisekedi, president of the DRC.
Hon. Kutesa remarked that Uganda attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo and that our bilateral relations are both fraternal & excellent.
“This is evidenced by the high-level exchange of visits at the all levels,” he said.
Uganda & DRC have concluded a number of cooperation frameworks. These include but are not limited to cooperation in: Health; Peace and Security; Energy and Mineral Development; Socio-Economic Infrastructure; Trade and Investment, among others.
According to Uganda Bureau of Statistics as at 18 May 2019, the volume of trade between Uganda & DRC for both formal/informal trade was estimated to be USD 531,912,000. There is enormous room for growth & development if the two countries work together.
