Uganda on Thursday reported 10 NEW COVID-19 cases which increased the number of affected people nationwide total to 1,223 cases.
A statement from the Ministry of Health said that three of the new cases were Ugandan truck drivers while the other seven were contacts to previously confirmed cases.
“Regarding the three truck drivers; two arrived from Kenya via Malaba Point of Entry while one arrived from South Sudan via Elegu Point of Entry,” the statement said.
“Of the seven contacts to previously confirmed cases; six are from Namisindwa District while one is an Indian-Ugandan, a resident of Kibuli in Kampala Metropolitan Area.”
The ministry added that 11 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 and were denied entry into the country. The 11 were six Kenyans, four Tanzanians and one Eritrean.
Uganda has tested more than 288,000 samples to date.
