With a half of participants at an eight day coaching workshop are Ugandan, If it all goes well Uganda will add on the amount of coaches withhold the second best coaching license in the game of Badminton.
The course started today, Thursday June 20th at NCS Arena Lugogo with 10 participants in acquisition for the level 2 coaching licence.
The Course shall go on up to 28th taking place at different Venues like KFC, Mbogo Schools with Lugogo accommodating the most days.
Under the facilitation Daje Annirao a former Mauritius Badminton Body.
Host Uganda is taking part with 5 coaches who include Fatimah Nabirungi, Hellen Luzika, Frank Muwuluzi and Godfrey Kivumbi and Nambuya Lizzy looking to add on William Kabundi, Betty Apio, Ronald Lule, Edwin Matsiko and Uganda Badminton Association Chairperson Annet Nakamya who secured the license in 2018 while Ivan Kalimunda acquired the same license from South Africa organised course.
Other countries involved are Egypt, Nigeria, lesotho, Benin, Djibouti Zambia and Botswana
Daje Annirao the Course administrator said that level 2 an advanced course compared to level 1 and coaches will have to go through both the theory and practical parts; Annirao revealed according to Nalubaale Sports
“At the end of the course, the coaches will be given certificates that show their participation in this course”
Simon Mugabi, the Uganda badminton associations’ Chief executive officer said this kind of workshop is good for Uganda as a country;
” It is good for Ugandans to attend more coaching courses, this will bring the sport to expansion and adding more sports Knowledge in the country”
Egypt’s player Ahmed Saleh is among the ten coaches attending the workshop and he spoke to media, saying that. “I came for this course to make sure that i can get knowledge that will one day make my country great when it comes to the sport of Badminton”
