Ugandans are in Semifinals, Mutesi is not willing to settle for Bronze

Plascon/ Crystal water sponsored Uganda Para Badminton international tournament graces semifinals with all players at the stage assured for medals.

In the medal bracket Uganda’s representatives are overwhelmingly occupy a number of slots in both categories, singles and doubles in different classifications.

In women’s singles SU 5 Sumin Mutesi qualified to the stage by beating Indian’s Shivangi Pandey to book a slot against Arati Janoba Patil.

Despite being assured for a bronze but the Ugandan is targeting for something bigger.
“I have qualified for the semifinal and I will play against an Indian. “I am not scared because I beaten an Indian to get to semi and I must wear a medal which is bigger than that which is given at semifinal stage”

In other semifinal of the Mutesi’s class is all Indian affair between Latika Latika against Swati Swati.

Other Ugandans are, Rose Nansereko who stopped a fellow Ugandan Juliet Mary Namunoga to set up a tie against Mexico’s Maria Guadalupe Rojas Perez.

Flavia Basuuta also is at the stage playing against Brazilian Juscileia De Cavalho Silva and a win for Basuuta may let her play against her Wheel chair one Partner Sarah Naziwa who is playing Anusha Chidananda of India in semifinal tomorrow.

In Doubles Brian Mugabe and partner Ali Mukasa will take on Kantharajanak Ravinaik who is pairing Haris Myhill Srikumar.

All semifinals shall take action on Saturday 6 July 2024 at NCS Kampala Arena while finals are awaited for Sunday July 7.
