Haji Twahil Kiteezala, flanked by the Director of Kawanda SS Hajji Maseruka Muhammad and General secretary UMEA Games Hajji Hussein Luwembawo Kyagulanyi, confirmed that the Games will be held this time.

Since the world is safe from the pandemic, the Solidarity games returned and Kawanda Secondary School will be the hosts of this championship which will run between 7th and 10th April 2023.
The confirmation was made by the Chairman of the UMEA Games organizing committee Hajji Twahil Kiteezala and his working committee, after a meeting with the Directors and Head Teachers of the various Schools at Kawanda SS on Thursday morning 23rd February 2023.
“Us being here shows that we are ready and serious on hosting the tournament, while in Kasawo in 2019, we received the flag as the hosts for 2020 but due to COVID-19, we didn’t host, but since there is no any reason as to why the games are not to be held, so we are ready to host.” Hajji Maseruka Muhammed, Kawanda SS Director told msnews.
The UMEA Solidarity games, the biggest tournament in Uganda that brings all the Muslim based schools in the country to compete in different sports disciplines is back after two complete years of no show.
The 2020 UMEA games were planned to be hosted at Kawanda Secondary School for the Easter weekend of that year, from Good Friday through to Easter Monday, 9th to 13th April 2020, but the 8th edition of the annual Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) Solidarity Games would not be held because of the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19).
This followed a directive from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to ban all public gatherings that included sports events, music concerts, church and mosque congregations, bars, public markets, educational institution which include, Primary schools, Secondary schools, Tertiary institutions and Universities where chances of contracting the contagious coronavirus were realistic.
Umea games , are games participated by only Muslims founded secondary schools and games to be participated this year include; football, netball, badminton, table tennis, handball, hockey, volleyball and basket ball .
Tha Last edition in 2019, the champions include; Masaka ss won football boys, Kawempe muslim won football boys, Ngando ss Wamala Butambal won Netball, Kakungulu memorial won badminton boys, Mbogo College won badminton girls, Kakungulu memorial won handball boys , kibuli ss won handball girls , Mbogo high won table tennis.
