UNEB reveals that the marking of PLE and UCE exams commenced in 33 centres

Uganda National Examinations board has revealed that marking of PLE and UCE examinations has kicked off and this process is taking place in 33 marking centres around the country.

PLE exams started on 8th November 2023 with a total number of 749,347 candidates from 14,442 centres around the country, as UCE exams started on 16th November 2023 with a total number of 364,000 candidates from 3800 centres around the country.

The Principal Public Relations Officer of the Uganda National Examinations Board Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, revealed that out of the 33 marking centres around the country, 13 will be used for marking PLE scripts and 20 will be used for marking UCE and UACE scripts. She said the marking process is now ongoing at their coordination centres.

“The Board is grateful to all the partners who support us in the field conduct of the examinations including the contracted professionals, security agencies, the judiciary that have attended to the cases of malpractice, the media that have prioritised examination issues, and members of the public who have constantly given whistle blowers alerts regarding malpractice.    

A Large number of the candidates completed their papers last Friday, while some will complete today, and others during the course of the week  until Friday December 1, 2023″ Jennifer Kulule said.

“About 6,000 examiners have been invited for marking at the PLE level, while 8,000 have been contracted to mark the UCE examination. We expect to release the first set of results, which is PLE, during the 3rd week of January 2024,” she added.

The Board is grateful to all the partners who support them in the field of conducting examinations including the contracted professionals, security agencies, the judiciary that have attended to the cases of malpractice, the media, and members of the public who have constantly given whistle-blower alerts.
