The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has commended the Government of Uganda for its effort through the Uganda Police upon creating a justice system that is responsive to children and child-friendly.

According to Dr. Doreen Mulenga, the UNICEF Uganda Representative said the recently unveiled Diversion Guidelines are an important milestone for child rights.

“We congratulate the Government of Uganda on this important milestone for child rights. As UNICEF, we continue to be committed to supporting the Justice, Law and Oder Sector institutions, including the Uganda Police, to create a justice system that is responsive to children and is child-friendly,” said Dr. Mulenga during the launch on Thursday, 22 August 2019.

The guidelines were produced by Uganda Police with support from UNICEF to promote the rights of children in conflict with the law.
