UOC president William Blick elected head of IOC boxing Task Force at 2020 Tokyo Olympics games

The president of Uganda Olympics committee William blick elected as the international Olympics committee boxing task force.

This taskforce will replace the AIBA at the IOC due its expulsion from Olympics.

William Blick asserted this while in the belief meeting with all boxing fraternity beliefing them about the procedures to follow to participate in the Olympics qualifiers 2020 Tokyo Japan and the address the challenges that faced boxing.

The 2020 Olympics is to be held in Tokyo Japan from march- April 2020.

“Two months remains to Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers, let me use this opportunity to call upon all the boxers who would want to represent the country neither professionals or armatures to register before qualifiers begin,”,william Blick asserted while briefing the boxers.

“I want to put more money in sports more so boxing but are full of wars, it is important to note that boxing getting 700m but is not enough to manage their work.

Blick also advised the boxing fraternity to copy from football, because for them they produce good results before requesting for money, i would advised them to buy a land for GYM and the equipment then they started bargaining for money .

However the president of Uganda boxing federation Mr. Moses Muhangi asserted their happiness for this symposium.

“This symposium will help us to solve our problems, as the two mother bodies are raised up to know the challenges we faced as boxing I think this going to be a steep a head because we are the best sport in Uganda but we are not catered for”.

To participate in the Olympics one should above 18 years and contains all the armatures and professionals, a professional should not have fought more than 8 fights.

All in all each boxer should be registered with UBF and should participate in the National trials and 8 men and 5 woman to be selected to qualified for continent to be held in Senegal then the best three boxers from each both men and woman will represent the continent in Tokyo Japan 2020, as 286 boxers of 186 of men and 100 of women are expect to be in Olympics 2020.

The weights or kgs as follows in men Fly weight of 52kg 52, feather weight 52-57kgs, Light weight 57-63kgs, welter weight 63-69kgs, light heavy 75-81kgs, heavy 81-91 and super heavy of 91 and above.

For Women.

Fly weight, feather weight, light weight, welter weight, and middle weight.

Due to expulsion of AIBA from Olympics the boxing task force will manage all the procedures but will follow the rules of AIBA while organising the qualifiers.

The symposium, included the National council of sports, Uganda Olympics committee, Uganda boxing federantion and boxing fraternity through sharing ideas for the challenges faced boxing and belief about the producers to follow to qualifier for Tokyo 2020.
