Following the confirmation of nomination dates of candidates for local government elections by the independent Electoral commission beginning from 21st September to 1st October 2020, UPC calls upon all party flag bearers to get ready for this exercise.
Arach Oyat Sharon, party spokesperson says, UPC has finished and identified flag bearers for all local government positions, that is to say parish councilors, LCIII chairpersons, municipality mayors, division mayors, municipality/division councilors, city mayors, district chairpersons, and city/district councillors and the party is therefore ready for local government nominations.
In the same vein, Sharon urged and reminded UPC flag bearers to go and pick nomination forms for the respective positions, fill them appropriately, take them to the district for endorsement as party Flag bearers and return them with the given time frame to the independent Electoral commission offices for nomination as candidates.
” we urge our party members and supporters to give full support to party flag bearers during nominations, campaigns and elections,” she added.
Sharon says party nominations for members of parliament were closed on 11th September 2020, pending party primaries slated for 26th September 2020, and all this should be done following the ministry of Health SOPs and guidelines.
“We underline the need to conduct these primaries in the most transparent manner and exhibit high discipline in all levels of the elections thus hold peaceful, fair and Democratic elections,” She added.
