President Museveni has appointed his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the Chief of Defence Forces, replacing Gen Wilson Mbadi.

Also dropped is the Deputy CDF Gen Peter Elwelu who has been  replaced by Lt Gen Sam Okiding.

Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda has also dropped as Joint Chief of Staff, replaced by Maj Gen Bakasumba.

Col Asaph Nyakikuru, the Commander of UPDF ‘s Commando Unit, has been elevated to Brigadier. Brig Gen David Mugisha has also been promoted to Major General.

The changes came a few hours after announcing changes to his Cabinet, introducing a few new faces, most of whom include supporters of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

They include Kitgum Woman MP Lillian Aber, events promoter Balam Barugahara and National Youth MP Phionah Nyamutooro.

Those dropped from the Cabinet are Vincent Ssempijja who is now a presidential adviser, as Karamoja Ministers Goretti Kitutu and Agnes Nandutu.

It remains to be seen where this leaves the MK Movement that has since metamorphosed into the Patriotic League of Uganda.
