Three-time Uganda Cup winners URA FC emerged 2-0 winners over North East Regional League side Kumi United to book the final place in the last 32.

In the League Cup round of 62 game played at Booma Ground, Kumi on Saturday, URA head coach David Obua handed ‘forgotten’ custodian James Alitho his first start since the start of the season.

Alitho kept a clean-sheet, Amisi Bwangani scored his first URA goal and Moses Aliro scored his fifth goal in all competitions so far this season as the Tax Collectors whipped Kumi United 2-0 at their own backyard.

Aliro broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, putting the visitors ahead with a calm finish inside the box, and Bwangani doubled the lead for URA from a well curled-in free kick from distance after Aliro was fouled.

URA played with a man less for the last ten minutes as Bwangani got off injured and substitutes were already used up by the 80th minute, but the Tax Collectors held on to their 2-0 win.

The Obua-coached side will now play West Nile-based FUFA Big League side Calvary FC in Yumbe in the round of 32 on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
