Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC duo of striker Cromwel Rwothomio and coach Sam Simbwa have been named the Uganda Premier League (UPL) player and coach of January respectively.

This was at a ceremony on Monday, February 03rd, at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo.

To win the player of the month award, Rwothomio beat teammate Saidi Kyeyune and Police FC forward Ben Ocen.

The former Paidha Black Angels’ captain scored three goals last month and scooped one man of the match award.

For Simbwa, he was voted ahead of Busoga United’s Abby Kikomeko and Paul Kiwanuka of Bright Stars FC.

Last month, Simbwa oversaw four victories and a draw in his side’s five games.

They defeated SC Villa, BUL FC, Bright Stars FC and KCCA FC before drawing 1-1 with Tooro United FC.

What they said after receiving their awards.

“I think this is a good motivation for me and it has been because of good work.

“There is good competition at the club and it pushes us to deliver more.” Rwothomio said.

“Am happy to be here and I give special thanks to my players and backroom staff.

“We are focused on winning as many games as possible this season.

”We could have beaten Tooro but it was a poor pitch. I can’t blame the referees because they did their work.” Simbwa said.

Both the winners of player and coach of the month walk away with a cash prize of UGX One Million (UGX 1m) and an award.

Maroons’ Douglas Bamweyana (Coach) and Vipers’ Fahad Bayo were named the best in September.

Vipers’ then coach Edward Golola and BUL striker Robert Mukongotya clinched October awards

November’s best coach and player were Mike Mutebi (KCCA) and Steven Mukwala (Maroons) respectively.
