URA FC has on today Monday January 15th 2023 signs a memorandum of understanding with former Uganda Cranes captain, Andy Mwesigwa owned secondary school for the football education partnership as the club’s chief executive officer Allan Munaaba said.
“In our ongoing pursuit of fostering talent for sustainable development, we have solidified a two-year partnership with Andy Mwesigwa Comprehensive High School in Wakiso.
“The school is set to become our official Junior team, serving as a feeder to the senior team. This initiative aims to ensure sustainable development by utilizing educated and literate players, with the goal of nurturing future professionals in various fields such as football, engineering, accounting, IT, and more.”Munaaba said.
“I am grateful that we are aligning with our vision of nurturing talent for sustainable development, developing responsible citizens through education and sports, primarily football. Working with a football legend and former national team captain adds great value to our efforts.”
“This aligns with URA’s overarching mission of developing Uganda together with creating responsible citizens from the educated football players. Munaaba added.
The Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed at the URA headquarters in Nakawa, witnessed by URA FC CEO Allan Munaaba and school director Andy Mwesigwa, both putting pen to paper to finalize the agreement.
This collaboration extends to both boys and girls, promoting gender balance and paving the way for a future women’s team for URA FC.
Former Uganda Cranes skipper Andy Mwesigwa, with nearly two decades of football experience, expressed his joy at the partnership, anticipating success within the structured setup of URA FC.
“I thank God for this day as we partner with one of best Uganda premier clubs, URA FC. Having played football at a top level, I am optimistic about the success of this collaboration. My talented and disciplined players, in such a setup, will benefit both parties. It’s been a year-long process, and I appreciate the club for welcoming us on board.”
The upcoming season’s FUFA Juniors League is set to kick off on February 4, 2024.
