The 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association ball games II kicked off today, Wednesday July 10 at Teso College Aloet in Soroti City.
Six disciplines are underway in the championship that will run until Wednesday 17th July 2024.
In Netball discipline that delayed to kick off due to protest from mostly the Netball team coaches who were against the scrap off of the round of 32. It had 40 games played on day one.
Wakiso Region representatives and favourites, Buddo SS started well as they defeated Ngora High School 53-03 to earn a early group E lead. This group is of the tough groups in this year’s netball competition having former champions Kibuli SS, St Mary’s College Rushoroza, Madinah Islamic SS, Kakungulu Memorial among others.
The Kampala region finalists, Kibuli SS also had a good start when they comfortably beat their neighbours, Kakungulu Memorial, 26-11 before Kawempe Muslim edge Mukono giants Kasawo SS with a difference of two goals in a closely contested game ended 24-22.
The defending champions, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende thumped fellow Wakiso region side Light College Katikamu 40-09.
The action will resume tomorrow, Thursday July 11 with the official opening ceremony take a centre stage in the afternoon. Sports Minister, Hon. Peter Ogwang is expected to be the Guest of Honor.
The others games that were played on day one are; basketball 3*3, Volleyball and Handball.
