UTB: 600 tour guides conclude training and assessment.

Jinja: Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has concluded a month long training of over 600 tour guides across the country held at Crested Crane hotel, as part of its mandate to promote quality assurance in tourist facilities through training, grading and classification.

The training equipped participants with a general understanding of the tourism sector in Uganda and its contribution to the economy, motivations for travel, visitor expectations and general tour guiding skills.

The Tourism Act (2008) mandates Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) to regulate the tourism industry in Uganda through, among others, licensing Tour Guides. In line with this mandate, Uganda Tourism Board has to organized such training of Tour Guides and assessment of those Tour Guides that have not yet undergone the assessment.
