Victoria University 1-1 YMCA

Victoria University and YMCA settled for a point each in their match day two encounter of the Pepsi University Football League held on Friday afternoon at Islamic University in Uganda Kabojja Campus Playground.

YMCA’s goal came from Kigenyi Benon while that of Victoria University was scored by Kajjabwangu Abu for two sides to settle for a draw.

The Buwambo based side which had a better first half, got a lead through Kigenyi Benon who had a nice finish in the 28th minute, he converted from a long ball released by defender, Muwaya Sharif.

The Micheal Kalyesubula coached side had all the control of the game until Victoria University got a free kick in the dying minutes of first half that was taken by their skipper Bbosa Ibrahim, Mukisa Promise, YMCA custodian fumbled with the ball to give Kajjabwangu Abu to find the back of the net for a leveler, seconds to halftime break.

Ten minutes into second half, nearly the visitors got perfect start to the second half but Kigenyi’s effort from the edge of the area was saved well down low to Nfumu’s right.

YMCA continued pressing for another lead but William Kabunga missed a glorious opportunity to put his side ahead when Victoria’s custodian Nfumu Yusuf was already beaten but put the ball off target at an hour mark.

As the hosts, Victoria University gained momentum in the last 20 minutes and Bbosa had a chance to lead as an example in the 70th minute but Mukisa Promise was equal to the challenge to keep the game at level.

And both sides finally settled for a point each.

Out of two games, these are the only two sides in group B without a win, they each have one point and a loss.

Makerere University Business School still on top of the table with six points, followed by Islamic University in Uganda who have three points.

The league will continue with ground D action on Saturday when Kampala International University hosting Kumi University at Kirombe playground-Kampala.
