Vipers lands another Brazilian footballer

With Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez still finding his footing as the first Brazilian player at Kitende, Uganda Premier League Champions Vipers SC have landed in another man from the land of Samba football.

Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo alias Tinga, is the latest Brazilian in town. 

Tinga, has penned down a two-year employment contract with the Venoms – until 2025.

The defensive midfielder is a former Brazilian U-20 international, who made six official caps for the Selecao at that level.

The right-foot, not only boasts a desirable height (1.73m), but also has great versatility as he can play at right-back as well.

The latest acquisitions senior career dates back to 2010 at Ponte Preta, Palmeiras (2011-2013) with short spells at Ceara SC and Figueirense during that time.

Been there, done that

In 2013, he departed Palmeiras for Avai FC (Brazilian Serie A) where he spent a year before joining Jubilo lwata in Japan. He rejoined the former club in 2015.

The midfielder then joined Suphanburi FC in Thailand on another short spell before going back home at Joinville SC.

Other sides he has featured for include; Santo Andre, CRB, Umm Salai SC, Vila Nova FC, Santa Cruz and Volta Redonda.

Tinga’s most recent adventures had him at Brusque in 2021, Botafogo PB in 2022, with his most recent team being Marcilio Dias this year.

His journey has had him also feature in the Brazilian top-flight, the second and third tiers, while he has also played in the Japanese second division.

Tinga is expected to vie for a starting berth with the likes of Nzau Miguel Lutumba, Siraje Ssentamu and Marvin Joseph Youngman among others.

He becomes the clubs fourth signing of the ongoing transfer window after Rodriguez, Richard Matovu and David Bagoole.
