Pilsner Super 8 Semifinal

Tomorrow (Friday, 9th)
Vipers SC v Mbarara City FC
4pm
St. Mary’s stadium

Vipers have been the busiest team in the off-season, and the venoms will not want that momentum to come to a grinding halt when they host Mbarara City in the semi-finals of the Pilsner Super 8 tomorrow at home St Mary’s stadium Kitende.
As usual in Ugandan football there is a common disease eating most of club owners as they sign players with out the acknowledgement of the technical personnel in the club, which has cause a lot of confusions, misunderstanding and miss coordination with in their teams.

Golola has today mistakenly during the pre match press conference mentioned that he was not aware of Muhammad Shaban’s signing but just been told this morning that Vipers he is already signed.

Edward Golola’s defeated Proline 1-0 in the previous round and will be favorites to beat the Ankole Lions, who knocked out URA 2-0.

But the home side can’t take anything for granted seeing how Mbarara city has frustrated them at home and away in the last 3 three previous meeting as the Ankole Lions are unbeaten with two draws and a win.

So much has changed in the Mbarara squad in the transfer window, but the team’s competitiveness, hunger and desire remain.
Vipers must find a way to carve clear goal-scoring opportunities that would go some way in enhancing the confidence levels of the team’s attackers. Vipers have tended to be goal-shy, a factor that saw them relinquish their league title to KCCA.

Golola wasted no time in reiterating his hopes and plans ahead of the game. “Our aim is to win this game tomorrow,” he remarked. “We play a good side but we shall play each minute like its the last.”

The Uganda Cranes quartet of Paul Willa, Dan Sserunkuma, Tom Masiko and Allan Kayiwa are back and could be selected.

Siraje Ssentamu has recovered from a knock, which means he will feature in tomorrow’s game. The combative midfielder suffered injury in the 1-0 win over Proline and was withdrawn at half time.

Rashid Toha and Ashraf Mugume are ruled out but the rest of the team is available for selection.

While Mbarara city will miss the service of their second goal scorer of the season Jude Ssemugabi and new signing Bashir Muweesi due to injury.
