On Saturday, newcomers Wakiso Giants suffered their heaviest loss since earning promotion to the top flight in May as they were beaten 3-0 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium by Express FC.

This has forced the Wakiso based club to fire head coach Kisala who joined them around June this year. The sacking of Kisala comes after a string of unconvincing results in their first season in the Uganda Premier League.

The former URA, BUL, Masaka LC and Express coach becomes the first casualty of the season having lost six, drawn one and four of eleven games played.

The Red Eagles’ goals were scored by captain-Disan Ggaliwango, Frank Kalanda and Frank Ssenyondo.

Ggaliwango opened the scoring inside 13 minutes, seeing his goal-bound effort helped on its way by a deflection and past Yasin Mugabi in the opposing goal.

Three minutes to the half hour mark, Kalanda doubled Express’ tally on the day, slotting in after he was played in by the exciting Ssenyondo.

The third came in the second period as Ssenyondo was finally rewarded for his brilliant display, adding a deserved goal to his day’s performance.

Daniel Shabena and Shafiq Avemah had chances to make the result more appealing but wasted both of them.

For Wakiso, they struggled to create chances and the few they did curb out were not clear-cut.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma pounced onto a Tony Kyamera poor clearance but pulled his effort wide in what was the home side’s clearest opening.

This is Express’s 4th win of the season and it sees them climb into 9th spot with 13 points from 11 games.

For Wakiso, they now slip into 10th spot with 13 points.

In their next assignments, Express FC hosts URA FC while Wakiso Giants who have now lost three of their last four games are away to leaders Vipers SC.
